The Steam Frame isn’t just Valve’s latest gadget, it’s also one of the most anticipated updates to the VR headset market overall. The Posen has reportedly just delivered the first shipment of these devices to the US: according to The Verge, Ceva shipped 13 tons of the device.

According to import data, Valve’s distribution partner, Ceva, shipped nearly 32 tons of “virtual reality devices.” Subtracting the weight of five 3,700 kg containers, the total comes to approximately 13 tons. A month ago, similar calculations showed that Valve imported 50 tons of game consoles in two days—documented as distinct from VR headsets.

Since April 23, according to unofficial data, the company has been importing Steam Machine desktop gaming PCs marketed as consoles in 12,600 kg containers—currently, their inventory has grown to 141 tons. In May, Valve also received three containers weighing 14,500 kg: two on May 18 and one on May 30—these are believed to be Steam Decks.

By the way, 13 tons isn’t a huge number of VR headsets, but a single container likely holds more of them than Steam Machine consoles. The headset, complete with two joysticks, weighs 654g, meaning there may be fewer than 20,000 units produced.

The Steam Frame VR headset was unveiled in November 2025, along with the Steam Machine console and Steam Controller. The new device features a 2160 x 2160 LCD screen, a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, and lenses with a viewing angle of up to 110 degrees. It runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ARM chip and SteamOS.
