The Steam Frame is likely to go on sale in September 2026.
Pre-orders are expected to open around September 7, with shipments starting a week later. Reviewers and bloggers have already received test samples of the device, as veiledly confirmed by Linus Tech Tips, who posted a photo of himself with a red mark on his forehead—likely caused by wearing the headset for extended periods.
Steam Hardware Updates indicated that the first reviewers received Steam Frame samples on August 24th. An email sent to a VR game developer has also surfaced on Reddit and social media. It indicates an unannounced sale on Valve’s marketplace from September 14th to 21st, featuring games and software for a certain VR device.
There’s no pricing information yet for the Steam Frame, but Notebookcheck estimates the headset will cost over $1,000.
