Valve To Release Next-Generation VR Headset And Controller In Early 2026

Valve announced three new devices at once: the Frame VR headset, as well as new models of the Steam Machine computer and the Steam Controller gamepad.

The Steam Frame is a wireless virtual reality headset that supports the Steam library. The developers claim the headset has a balanced weight. It also comes with a 6 GHz adapter and two controllers.

The Steam Machine is a gaming mini PC running SteamOS. Valve claims the device is quiet and will feature HDMI and USB ports. The computer will be equipped with an AMD processor and graphics card, allowing it to run games at 4K and 60 FPS, but with full frame rate support. The Steam Machine will be available with 512 GB and 2 TB of storage, expandable via microSD cards.

The Steam Controller is a gamepad that supports wireless connectivity via a dedicated adapter and Bluetooth. It features magnetic thumbsticks and a gyroscope for motion control. The gamepad is compatible with any device that can run the Steam client.

So far, this is just an announcement—the gadgets will go on sale in early 2026.
