One of the game’s flagship exclusives, Deadpool VR, has been released on Quest. It’s a joint project between Twisted Pixel and Marvel Games about a sarcastic superhero voiced by Neil Patrick Harris. The game consists of several story chapters with cinematic scenes, splashing with violence and foul language throughout, but it also features a kids’ mode, which is yet another post-ironic joke and won’t shield anyone from the concept itself.
The story sees the player, playing as Deadpool, kidnapped by the villain Mojo (voiced by John Leguizamo) and forced to participate in a galactic reality show, hunting down famous Marvel villains like Mephisto, Omega Red, Wolverine, and others.
The game’s visuals are noted as one of its strong points, with Harris’s voice acting comparable to Ryan Reynolds’s work in films. The soundtrack is described as “cinematic and impactful.”
However, much of the criticism centers on the combat system—weapons feel “too light,” and the animations are plagued by technical inaccuracies, which detract from some of the game’s dynamic.
The new product costs $50 and takes up 34 gigabytes of storage space.
