Huawei appears to be developing its own AR/VR glasses—and it looks intriguing. A patent features an unusual removable strap that transforms into a ring for controlling the interface directly from your finger. You can gesture, point, scroll—all without removing the glasses!
Huawei’s patent for an AR/VR headset with a removable and reinstallable ring describes how, when folded, the ring is integrated into the glasses frame and can be used for simple actions such as taps and swipes. When placed in a “dock”—that is, when returned to the glasses frame—the ring automatically recharges. This solution theoretically eliminates the need for a separate controller, offering a compact and elegant alternative. However, the practical effectiveness of this approach is still unknown.
After all, this is just a Huawei patent application. This means the company has spent some time developing it, but that doesn’t guarantee it will eventually become a real product.
