Meta has released a software update for its virtual reality headsets that has caused them to become blocked for some users. At first, Meta played down the problem and refused to fix the affected Quest headsets unless they were under warranty, but now the company has decided to accommodate users.
A problematic update affected the Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets and effectively bricked them.
Now the company says that while most people can use their headsets normally now, it is actively working to resolve the issue for all users.
Some Reddit users report that the company has emailed them to confirm that they are receiving out-of-warranty service, and a community manager for the Meta support forum says that Meta customer support “should have new guidelines on how to support users from now on.”
