At IFA 2026, XGRIDS unveiled the PortalCam, a spatial camera that transforms real-world spaces and objects into photorealistic 3D scenes. The device combines four cameras, LiDAR, and a SLAM system, and the resulting image can be used in gaming, VR, architecture, film, and other 3D projects.

The device is equipped with two front-facing cameras, a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor, and a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) system. The cameras record everything within their field of view, while the LiDAR measures distances. The SLAM system combines this data, uses it to build a map, and continuously correlates this map with the camera’s current position.

The result is a 3D model of the environment. Xgrids also offers LCC Studio software, which converts camera data into 3D models. These photorealistic models are already dimensionally accurate, making them ready for use in virtually any workflow. The software then makes the models accessible to a wide range of platforms, including web browsers, VR headsets, 3D programs like Blender, 3D printers, and more.

In the US, the standard PortalCam kit currently costs $4,999. It includes the camera, one battery, a smartphone mount, a tripod, and a one-year LCC Studio Basic license. The PortalCam Premium, with two batteries and a one-year LCC Studio Premium license, is priced at $6,399.

The standard kit is available at European dealers starting at €3,799 excluding VAT. A new batch of PortalCam is expected to be available at the official XGRIDS store, with shipments starting in November.
