Valve continues to refine its new VR headset. Just a few days after the September 14 launch, the company released SteamOS 0.3.0—the first system update for Steam Frame.

This issue has now been resolved: Valve has released SteamOS 0.3.0 for its headset. The list of key changes highlights “significantly faster charging” when the device is powered off or in sleep mode. Indeed, following the update, the headset charges noticeably faster, reports The Verge.

Previously, charging power hovered around 8 W—peaking at 27 W—when connected to the adapter; now, the minimum is 19–21 W, with a peak of 42 W. This is sufficient to keep the headset running even during active gaming sessions.

The SteamOS 0.3.0 changelog also notes improved controller tracking and enhanced system stability under heavy loads. Additionally, a microphone bug that caused audio distortion has been fixed.

Valve states that the SteamOS update is already available to all users. However, the dispatch of purchase notification emails in the US and Europe only began on September 18, so some buyers may have to wait before receiving their headset and installing the update.
