Valve has filed a trademark application for Steam Frame, which could refer to VR headset.
The application describes the Steam Frame as a device that encompasses computer hardware, networking devices, peripherals, and software for playing, processing, and streaming audio, video, data, text, and multimedia. Data miner Lifeismana found references to the Steam Frame in the latest SteamVR update.
Valve insider Brad Lynch shared additional details: Valve plans to rename SteamVR overlays to “Frames,” and the key feature of the device will be “spatial gaming.”
References to SteamVR have already included the name Steam Frame, which may indicate a connection to the standalone VR headset project Deckard. However, the purpose of the brand has not been officially disclosed.
