As Mark Gurman reports in his Power On newsletter, Meta is preparing to release a cheaper version of the Quest 3 VR headset called the Quest 3S.
The price for the new product is expected to be in the range of $300 to $400, while the price of the Quest 3 starts at $499.
Gurman believes the price cut will be achieved by ditching the included controllers or making them different from the ones that come with the standard Quest 3 headset.
Meta is set to host its Connect conference on September 25-26. Much of the presentation will focus on AI features, but it’s also expected to feature a new mixed reality headset and new Google Glass-style smart glasses called Orion.
Earlier it became known that Meta suspended development of the Apple Vision Pro competitor, the premium Quest headset, due to the excessively high cost of the devices.
