Samsung has been working on a headset for some time, codenamed Project Moohan, which is expected to be released under the name Galaxy XR. The company previously revealed concept images, as well as a prototype in a video by MKBHD earlier this year. Now, official renders and new details about the gadget have leaked online. The leak was shared by Android Headlines.
The headset’s design is shown from multiple angles, revealing two lenses inside the shell through which the user perceives the virtual environment. The lenses are surrounded by a soft material, ensuring comfort during extended wear. The nosepiece is generously sized, and the entire weight of the device is distributed by an adjustable head strap and shock-absorbing padding, eliminating any strain on the nose, according to Android Headlines.

The Galaxy XR’s visual system is powered by a 4K micro-OLED display with a pixel density of 4,032 PPI. The total pixel count for both eyes is approximately 29 million, exceeding the 23 million pixels of the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung also claims high color accuracy and image saturation, in line with expectations for micro-OLED technology.
The device’s computing power is provided by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, developed by Qualcomm in close collaboration with Samsung and Google. This chip is capable of displaying images at a resolution of up to 4.3K per eye, delivering a 15% higher maximum GPU frequency and a 20% higher CPU frequency compared to the previous generation. The processor also supports spatial audio processing, gesture recognition, AI algorithms, and all necessary real-time tracking features.
The company opted for an external battery that connects via USB-C: this approach allows for higher-capacity batteries without adding extra weight to the headset itself. Battery life is reportedly around two hours for typical use and two and a half hours for video playback.

Four infrared cameras, working in conjunction with AI algorithms, are used for eye tracking. They continuously record pupil position and provide detailed eye movement tracking. Voice input is provided through microphones capable of capturing sound from all directions and distinguishing the user’s speech from background voices.
The Samsung Galaxy XR’s launch date has not yet been confirmed. However, rumors suggest the device will launch this month, possibly on October 21st or 22nd.
The price is expected to be at least $1,800.
