Newly formed VR developer and publisher Black Sun Productions has announced Metamorphosis VR, a reimagining of the 2020 video game.
The game’s plot is based on Franz Kafka’s novella “The Metamorphosis”, in which traveling salesman Gregor wakes up to find himself in the body of an insect, in the game’s case, a cockroach. Gregor must explore the night streets of Vienna in the 1900s to save a close friend and regain his humanity.
“We chose Metamorphosis as the basis for our debut project because its surreal, Kafkaesque world – one of the richest and most immersive worlds imaginable – offers a wonderful opportunity to bring that experience to virtual reality,” says Corbin Chase, CEO of Black Sun Productions.
The game will be released on October 10, 2024 on Meta Quest 2 and 3 for $20. The game has been rated T (Teen) by the ESRB.
