Well-known insider Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to release a budget version of the Apple Vision headset next year and its price will be around $2,000.
Apple’s Vision Pro headset was unveiled earlier this year for $3,500, but it appears the company is already hard at work on its successor. Some reports earlier this year suggested that Apple had put the Vision Pro on hold to focus on a cheaper option, as it became apparent that the Vision Pro’s high price was putting the product out of reach for many. Gurman notes that the new headset will likely use a slower processor and cheaper materials. While the Vision Pro features an M2 chip, the more affordable model will likely use an A-series chip like the A18 Pro, which is comparable in performance to the M1. In terms of materials, the budget version will likely feature more plastic, as opposed to the Vision Pro’s aluminum and glass.
Apple expects the new headset to sell twice as much as the Vision Pro. However, given that the Vision Pro has not been very popular, this does not guarantee big sales for the new product. Apple Vision Pro 2 is also expected to be released in 2026 with an improved chipset.
