The mp1st portal published a report on the canceled Tomb Raider VR game. Its development lasted from at least November 2024 to January 2026.

It turns out the developers had been working for a long time on a full-fledged, standalone Tomb Raider title designed for VR headsets. Unfortunately, the project was completely canceled earlier this year, leaving Lara Croft fans with only concept art. Work on the game, codenamed Project U, lasted from November 2024 to January 2026. A team of over 50 experienced developers worked on the game, powered by the modern Unreal Engine 5, and the target platforms were to be Meta Quest 3, PSVR2, and PC. According to information provided by former employees, the game promised to be excellent—the team even managed to prepare a playable tech demo, which received excellent reviews both internally and from external reviewers.

The developers themselves eventually shared materials about the game: they published character and environment models, concept art, and early gameplay footage online.
