While the film studio is deciding how to create a sequel to the successful sci-fi film “Project End of the World,” it is already being prepared for release—but as a game in virtual and augmented reality.

Players of Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars will take on the role of Grace and pilot the ship. As the sole survivor of the “Ave Maria” mission, they will have to diagnose problems and resolve system malfunctions. Thanks to mixed reality, players will be able to interact with objects in the ship’s cockpit and communicate with Rocky.

Gosling did not appear in the game trailer, which was a reaction video featuring Weier and the film’s directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Maze Theory specializes in creating VR and AR games and has previously released similar projects based on the series Peaky Blinders (Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom) and Doctor Who (Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality).
