Microsoft and Meta are working to bring mixed reality to workspaces: for Microsoft, this is a long-awaited entry into a promising market, and for Meta, an opportunity to demonstrate that its headsets can be used not only for entertainment but also for work.
“We’re excited to announce that the full capabilities of Windows 11 are now available on mixed reality headsets, starting with the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Microsoft is partnering with Meta to make this experience available today in public preview, and we’re excited to hear from the community. Accessing your local Windows PC from your Quest headset is seamless, and connecting to a private, high-quality workstation with multiple monitors takes just a few seconds.” – Microsoft.
To activate the feature, install the Mixed Reality Link app on Windows 11 and connect to the Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S via a secure network connection. You can then work with Windows in real time using the keyboard—mixed reality mode is available for keeping an eye on your surroundings, or for full immersion in a virtual workspace.
With this update, Meta continues its ambitious strategy to bring mixed reality to everyday computing experiences.
