Mojang recently announced that Minecraft no longer officially supports VR headsets. The game completely removed support for VR devices after the release of patch 1.21.80 for Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Although the shutdown was originally scheduled for March, players were able to enjoy a few extra weeks of VR play. Previously, fans had used mods like Vivecraft to dive into Minecraft through platforms like SteamVR and Oculus Rift, turning the game into a fully interactive, immersive experience.
While the decision didn’t come as a surprise, it still disappointed many who appreciated the extra sense of depth and presence that VR brought to the game. Interestingly, some casual players admitted that they didn’t even know Minecraft had VR support.
