Startup Freeaim presented revolutionary sneakers with electric wheels. They can radically change the experience of moving users in virtual reality.
The Freeaim company, founded in 2021, presented a unique development in the field of virtual reality — shoes with motorized wheels, called Freeaim VR Shoes. This technology can solve the problem of movement in virtual space, which developers of VR games and applications face.
The shoes work according to the principle of running tracks, but only wearable and miniature ones. When the user takes a step forward with one leg, wheel modules on the other leg move it back, holding the person in place. This allows players to “walk” in the virtual world, while staying within a small area of 2 × 2 meters in the real space of their room. Externally, VR Shoes are more like electric roller skates.
In its current form, smart rollers for virtual reality Freeaim VR Shoes are available for order to corporate clients, and the cost of one game set is $4999. Freeaim explained that they plan to release a consumer version of the videos on the market in 2025 for $1,000.
