Meta Files A Patent That Replicates Apple Vision Pro’s EyeSight Feature

Even though the Apple Vision Pro isn’t yet a top seller for Apple, it still has an impact on its competitors. The latest evidence comes from a patent application from Meta, which was apparently inspired by one of the Vision Pro’s most unique features.

While Meta is looking to improve upon Quest’s own headsets with EyeSight, it’s important to note that Vision Pro’s option received mixed reviews upon its release. Many reviewers criticized this feature, claiming that it doesn’t live up to expectations and makes the headset design look bulky.

Meta’s patent, officially titled “Immersive Headset Integrated Sensors for Social Presence,” describes methods for implementing such a feature. It also talks about possible upgrades to existing Quest headsets or the development of a new design to support the technology.

Unlike EyeSight, the Meta patent mentions health sensors that could be integrated into the headset interface.
