PlayStation has released an announcement trailer for Bootstrap Island, a realistic survival action adventure inspired by the story of Robinson Crusoe. The game is scheduled for release in 2026 for the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset.
Bootstrap Island features a historical setting, set in the 17th century. You play as a “Robinson Crusoe” named Daniel, stranded on a tropical island. The developers have created a dynamic environment, different biomes, a day/night cycle, shelter construction, a character development system, and other interesting nuances, such as illnesses and hallucinations.
Discussing the upcoming port on the PlayStation Blog, the developers at Maru VR shared special console adaptations. The game will use eye tracking for foveated rendering, provide haptic feedback in the glasses during storms and deadly encounters, and support adaptive weapon triggers.
Bootstrap Island promises deep and intense gameplay in the spirit of classic wilderness survival stories, adapted for VR.
