Valve Reconsiders Steam Frame Price & Release Date Amid RAM & Storage Shortage

Valve has issued an official clarification regarding the release of the Steam Machine PC console, as well as the Steam Frame VR headset and Steam Controller.

Valve explained that it had to reconsider the pricing and delivery schedules for its new products. The company stated:

“When we announced our new products in November, we expected to be able to share precise pricing and release dates by now. However, the RAM and component shortages you’ve likely heard about that have hit the industry have only worsened. Due to the limited availability and rising prices of these critical components, we must reconsider pricing and delivery schedules, particularly for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame.”

The company has not changed its target release date for all three new products—it plans to release them in the first half of this year. However, the final dates and prices are still being finalized, taking into account “rapidly changing circumstances.”
