If the Vision Pro headset seemed too heavy or expensive to you, then there is good news for you. Apple is already working on a new version of the headset, which will be released in 2027 and will be called Vision Air, according to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple’s Vision Pro model still costs at least $3,499, despite its slightly outdated hardware, based on the Apple M2. Apple is expected to release a new variant of the Vision Pro in 2025, with a more comfortable headband and either the Apple M4 or Apple M5 headset.

For consumers, however, Apple’s mixed reality headset is unlikely to become truly interesting until 2027. According to the latest information from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, obtained from Apple’s supply chain, the iPhone maker is planning a new headset for next year, which the analyst is provisionally calling the Apple Vision Air. The headset is expected to be at least 40% lighter, dropping from 650 grams to 390 grams, making the mixed reality headset about as light as the Apple AirPods Max.

The current model costs $3,499, which is twice as much as the top iPhone and even many MacBooks. The Vision Air, according to analysts, will cost about $1,750. Of course, that’s still a lot, but the difference is huge. Especially considering that the Vision Pro is still perceived as a device for enthusiasts and developers. The Vision Air could be Apple’s first headset for regular users.
