Apple Accuses Ex-Employee of Stealing Vision Pro Helmet Secrets

Apple has launched a lawsuit against a former employee who stole confidential data about the development of the Vision Pro headset before joining Snap.

The company has filed a lawsuit against former senior engineer Di Liu, who had previously moved from Apple to Snap. It is alleged that he had access to classified information and worked on the development of the Vision Pro augmented and virtual reality headset. This device, which was released in February 2024, was called a failure by many journalists due to a limited number of functions and low sales. Apple believes that its former engineer could have passed information that is a trade secret to Snap. Thus, he allegedly agreed to work at a new job while still an Apple employee. Snap supports the Snapchat social network and produces Spectacles smart glasses.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Apple has sued former employees for leaking trade secrets. In February, the company dropped a case against a former iOS engineer, and in 2022, it settled a conflict with a former design architect accused of passing classified data to journalists.
