Apple and Sony are discussing the possibility of integrating PlayStation VR2 controllers into the Apple Vision Pro headset. This collaboration could take the user experience of both platforms to the next level, expanding their functionality for both games and virtual and augmented reality applications.
Last December, it was revealed that Apple and Sony had already agreed to collaborate in early 2024 to ensure compatibility of PlayStation VR2 controllers with the Vision Pro. Sony has been working on this for several months. It was also reported that Apple was in talks with third-party developers to integrate controller support into their Vision Pro projects. Gurman previously noted that the Vision Pro already supports PS5 and Xbox controllers, but they are not suitable for virtual reality, since six degrees of freedom (6DOF) are required to accurately control VR games.
Apple’s Vision Pro, unveiled this year, is positioned as a powerful augmented and virtual reality device. Support for peripherals like Sony’s controllers could help the headset gain popularity among gamers.
