Half-Life: Alyx has received a new mod for non-VR play. It’s being developed by Argentinian enthusiast SoMNst. The project has been in development for five years.
The modder posted a lengthy gameplay demo and announced that the demo would be available to all players “soon”:
SoMNst also thanks @EyeCandryMovies for creating the animations, the UI icons and 3D hand model were created by Nicklaus, and the rigging of the models was done by Optimus97.
Not all fans of the franchise appreciated Valve’s decision to make Half-Life: Alyx a VR game, but those who played it were pleased. The game has “extremely positive” reviews on Steam, with a 98% rating after over 100,000 reviews.
A few years ago, Half-Life: Alyx was already released as a “NoVR” modification. The game also runs on the Steam Deck portable device.
