Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, a spin-off of the iconic stealth game series, has been released on PC (SteamVR), PS VR2, Quest 2, Quest 3, and Pico 4. The game has already earned high praise from players, earning an 87% rating on Steam.
The project’s protagonist is a thief nicknamed Magpie, who discovers a magical artifact and becomes embroiled in a major conspiracy. Garrett also features in the storyline; his voice accompanies the protagonist throughout the game, creating a direct connection to the classic installments of the series.
The gameplay is built around deeply developed VR interactions: players must pick locks manually, shoot a bow, move stealthily, and eliminate guards using natural movements and gestures.
Early reviews from industry publications have already appeared. Critics praised the atmosphere, the variety of gameplay, and the meticulously crafted sound design. Among the drawbacks, some noted a weak ending, unstable enemy AI, and sometimes awkward interactions with environmental objects.
The Steam version requires at least Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-9700K processor, 16GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card, and 33GB of disk space.
