Already available in Early Access on Quest, Harpagun is expanding its audience and coming to PlayStation VR2 and Steam on April 10. The game features a full campaign with on-rails levels in a post-apocalyptic setting.
As a “space junker,” you use magnetic beams to interact with your environment, throwing industrial artifacts and mushroom-like aliens around. The game combines physics and action, revealing the secrets of an abandoned planet with elements of dark humor, bright music, and cartoonish animation.
The developers paid special attention to the movement system, creating the so-called “anchor system”. Players move between points, maintaining control over the battle and quickly reacting to threats. A “magnetic beam” is used to interact with objects – it allows you to grab and throw objects of different sizes, from tin cans to tractors, and also affect enemies in different ways.
The game’s visual style combines Slavic retrofuturism with dark humor. The plot follows a team of space scrap metal collectors exploring an abandoned planet. The soundtrack includes an unusual mix of army marches, jazz, and Balkan rhythms.
The development took three years with an emphasis on the “juiciness” of the gameplay – bright animations, spectacular reactions to blows and chaotic destruction. According to the creators, their goal is to evoke a “wow” emotion in players after removing the VR helmet.
