Meta unveiled three new smartglasses at the Connect 2025 conference. Among them are the Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 with extended battery life, the Meta* Ray-Ban Display with a built-in screen, and the Oakley Meta Vanguard, designed specifically for athletes.

The glasses feature a single large 12-megapixel front camera with a 122° wide-angle lens, compared to the two cameras found on the Oakley Meta HSTN and Meta smart glasses. It can record video in up to 3K resolution.

Oakley Meta Vanguard features more powerful speakers, delivering 6 dB more volume than the Oakley Meta HSTN. According to the company, these are the most powerful of any Oakley eyewear model to date. The glasses also feature a five-microphone system that suppresses ambient noise, improving clarity during calls, messaging, or using Meta AI with your voice.

Meta notes that all buttons on the Oakley Meta Vanguard are located on the bottom, ensuring comfortable use of the wearable device while wearing a helmet. A programmable button activates a custom AI prompt, which can be configured via the Meta AI app to perform specific actions, such as playing a specific Spotify playlist or launching a hyperlapse video.

The model is available in four frame and lens combinations, including options with Oakley’s signature PRIZM technology for sun, wind, and dust protection. Sound is delivered by the most powerful speakers of any Meta device, and a five-microphone system reduces wind noise during calls or video recording. Sales begin on October 21 for $499.
