Amazon Quest Is Outselling Nintendo Switch 2 On Amazon

Despite being released over a year ago, Meta’s Quest 3 headsets are outselling the new Nintendo Switch 2 console, which came out this summer, on Amazon.

Over the 30 days ending December 23, including the entire week of pre-New Year sales, the glasses sold 154,000 units at the local store, while the Switch 2 reached 150,000 units.

All other game consoles sold worse than the Quest and Switch 2. On Amazon’s bestseller list in the “Video Games” category, the Quest 3S with 128GB is battling with the Nintendo bundle for sixth and seventh place. The PlayStation 5 was in 13th place, the Quest 3 (512GB) was in 24th place, and the Xbox Series X was in 60th place on the “bestseller” list.

Meta is pouring colossal amounts of money into promoting the Quest and giving away games alongside it, even on top of discounts that have lowered the retail price of the 3S to $250 before tax. The Switch 2 costs $450. However, even beyond Meta’s spending, virtual and mixed reality are far from obsolete in terms of entry-level purchases.

Earlier this year, Meta took steps to improve the quality of software and user interface design for its wearables, which is expected to improve customer retention going forward. However, rumors suggest these steps will also lead to higher prices for the company’s headsets, which will likely dampen the impressive sales volumes Quest has enjoyed over the years.
