VR KOLO, the first virtual reality museum network, was unveiled in Ukraine. It unites five museums into a single digital space, supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

In the VR space, visitors can literally travel between these cities using a virtual reality headset. More than 120 exhibits are already available in digital format – from ancient objects to museum pieces damaged by war.

Some of the artifacts lost during the occupation or destruction have been recreated in VR with realistic textures, sounds, lighting, and musical accompaniment. Each can be viewed up close, zoomed in, and even “handled.”

For each museum, the VR Kolo team created a separate virtual tour, taking into account the local history and specific features of the collection. All spaces are interconnected, allowing users to experience the sensation of traveling across Ukraine without leaving the same virtual environment.

VR KOLO is important not only as a technology: for the state, it is a tool for modernizing museums during wartime; for regions, it is a way to strengthen tourist appeal and local identity; for society, it is a bridge between the past and the future; and for international partners, it is a clear support format with measurable results.
