Meta announced the launch of Hyperscape, a technology that transforms real-world spaces into photorealistic VR worlds. The presentation took place at the Meta Connect conference, where the company also showed off new smart glasses and games.
Scanning a room takes only a few minutes, but rendering a VR version of the space can take several hours. Inviting others into these spaces isn’t currently possible—this feature will be available later.
The technology has already been used to create VR replicas of Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen, Chance the Rapper’s home, the UFC arena in Las Vegas, and a room displaying Happy Kelly’s Crocs collection.
Hyperscape Capture is already available in early access for Quest 3 and Quest 3S owners aged 18 and over. For now, you can’t invite others to created spaces, but Meta promises to add this feature via private links.
