Apple Drops Lawsuit Against Former Engineer Who Leaked Vision Pro Data

Apple has dropped a lawsuit against former iOS engineer Andrew Oda, who the company accused of leaking information about the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. In early February, the defendant apologized to his former colleagues, noting that “the leak was not worth it.”

The lawsuit against Aud was filed in March 2024. In a statement, Apple accused him of distributing non-public information about “more than a half-dozen different Apple products and policies,” including spatial computing developments, details about an unpublished app, and employee numbers. Aud allegedly passed the information to a Wall Street Journal reporter, who soon published an article about the yet-to-be-released, unannounced Journa app.

The former employee called the leak of classified information to third parties a “profound and costly” mistake that he said destroyed hundreds of professional relationships he had built over the years, damaging his own career as an engineer.
