Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon’s recent announcement of a partnership with Google and Samsung has caught the attention of the tech world. The goal of this collaboration is to create mixed reality smart glasses that could change the way wearables are thought of.
It is known that the main goal of the cooperation will be the creation of MR glasses that will combine augmented (AR) and virtual (VR) reality in one device. This will allow users to get a fundamentally new experience of interaction with digital content, integrating it into the context of the real world. Cristiano Amon described the MR glasses being developed as “a new product, new experiences”, emphasizing that they are intended to become as familiar and indispensable a gadget as smartphones are today.
One of the key components of the new device will be the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, specially designed for smart glasses. This chip will allow for the launch of applications using artificial intelligence, which is expected to add an additional layer of functionality. Amon explained that the AI will work both on the device itself and in the cloud, creating a unique experience for users.
Even the approximate date of the new MR glasses’ release on the market is still unknown, but technology market experts are already predicting that the product has every chance of becoming one of the most significant and sought-after gadgets in the near future.
