After numerous delays, Pimax has finally begun shipping its next PC virtual reality headset, albeit in “small quantities” that come with a fabric head strap—a sort of stopgap until the company can begin shipping the official strap.
Dream Air is a more compact and lightweight VR headset than the brand’s previous models. Its key advantage is its Sony microOLED displays with a resolution of 3840×3552 per eye and 7680×3552 overall.
Retail shipments begin in January. However, some users have received early samples to gather feedback and make the finishing touches before mass production.
The “3D band”—a knitted accessory in the style of the Apple Vision Pro—will reportedly be delivered later to those who initially received a 2D band with their order.
Pimax has not provided any information on when the 3D-enabled bands will be available for purchase, nor when the company will stop shipping, including the 2D-enabled bands.
