Castello Inc.’s new VR project, Of Lies and Rain, is a dark sci-fi shooter set in a post-apocalyptic universe where the stakes are high — humanity’s very existence is at stake. The demo is now available for free on Quest and Steam, allowing gamers to be the first to experience a world on the brink of destruction.
To begin with, the authors decided to release Of Lies and Rain as a demo version for Quest and Steam. The full game will be released in early access and will immediately offer the entire plot, all game zones and mechanics. Over the next 6-12 months, the developers will focus on finalizing, eliminating bugs and increasing stability.
There are noticeable technical differences between the platforms: the Quest 2 version lacks dynamic lighting and shadows, uses 1K textures and scaled-down particle effects. Quest 3 offers some dynamic lighting and 2K textures. The PC and PS VR2 versions boast maximum effects, including dynamic lighting and 4K textures.
Of Lies and Rain is expected to be released “soon” on Quest, with an official Steam release set for 2025. The developers also plan to release a demo on PlayStation VR2.
